Something off the request line from Liberty Island

One of the things I most wanted to do when I moved to New York was see the view from the crown of the Statue of Liberty.  Now, I’ve of course heard that it’s a long climb up the stairs, and that many people think it’s not worth the effort.  But, for some reason, I’ve never been able to shake the notion that it would be really, really awesome.

However, the head of Lady Liberty was closed to visitors following 9/11, so by the time I moved to New York there was no chance of padding her feet, heading up there with a walkman and a joystick, then taking her for a spin around midtown.

Well, it’s just been announced that other intrepid paranormal investigators and eliminators will have that chance: the L.A. Times is reporting that, beginning July 1, the Statue of Liberty’s crown will once again be open for sight-seeing and inter-dimensional battle.  Sadly, I’ll be leaving the country for I-don’t-know-how-long a month before that.

Guess it gives me something to look forward to for when I get back.
